There are two significant first steps in choosing a university:

  1. Find a blank notebook
  2. Begin writing down the names of universities.

Of course there is more to it than that, but it is important that you approach this decision as one that you 1) can make yourself, and 2) recognize will require some significant research.

University Visits

We host a large number of universities at our school each year. The college admissions counselors who visit us speak about what their university has to offer, and about the opportunity it could hold for your future education. They are often alum of the university they represent, and are usually the first to look over your applications. Attend as many of these visits as possible and ask questions! If you know what you want to do in the future, ask about that every single time. If you are not sure, ask what makes this university stand out. Regardless of the answers you receive, make note of them and follow up with your own research at a later time.
