Half and Half Brownies

Mom and Dad

The first thing I remember about brownies is that I would always eat the batter. Even if it was bad for me, I would always take the whisk and lick it clean. And when we used up all the batter in the bowl, I would eat the batter on the bowl too. The next thing I remember about the brownies is that my mom would always want to put pecans in it, but my dad hated pecans so we would always do half and half. Half regular chocolatey goodness, and half crunchy pecan goodness. For awhile I used to want to do whatever my dad did. If he didn’t like pecans, I didn't like pecans. If he didn't like coconut, I didn’t like coconut. Although, I still don’t like coconut. But now I have a liking for pecans. So whenever my mom would make brownies, always out of the box, she’d do half and half because my dad was stubborn and wouldn’t ever just pick the pecans out. I love when my mom makes brownies because you can smell it throughout the house. She would either cook the brownies to where it would be a little too soft or a little too hard. But either way we’d still eat it with vanilla ice cream. And the next morning we’d have a brownie for breakfast, and then after dinner we’d have the rest.
