Overview

The Senior Capstone is the culminating component of the TSAS HOUSES curriculum and graduation plan.

It is designed to be a bridge between each student’s high school learning and their plans after high school: college, vocational or applied training, work, or other real-world endeavors.

The Capstone will be unique to each senior and carefully designed to be meaningful and relevant. Each senior works with a faculty Capstone Advisor to support their progress and success.

Each Capstone Has Three Components

  1. Capstone Experience: A year-long individualized learning opportunity beyond the traditional classroom that connects to each student’s unique interests and their future
    • Concurrent Enrollment at TCC or Tulsa Tech
    • Internship, Work Study, or Service Work
    • Visual or Performing Arts Portfolio or Performance Creation (includes work as Student Aid)
  2. Capstone Project: Each senior collects highlights of their learning from their year-long experience and creates a unique project that presents a focused part of their learning or personal development
  3. Capstone Showcase: Each senior prepares a public presentation of their capstone project for a Senior Capstone Showcase event. Some successful presentations formats:
    • Ted Talk style video
    • Poster Session: “Science Fair Model” with student presentation
    • Constructed experiment/object with supporting materials
    • Art show of visual works or Artist Talk
    • Performance of performing pieces
    • Created and edited film/music production
    • Others by design and approval
